What are the defects?

The propellant tablets in some of air bag inflators may experience an alteration over time, which could potentially lead to over-aggressive combustion in the event of an air bag deployment. In certain circumstances, this potential condition could create excessive internal pressure when the airbag is deployed, which could result in the body of the inflator rupturing upon deployment.

What are the hazards?

If the airbag does not deploy correctly, there is an increased risk of injury to the driver during a collision.

What should consumers do?

Once parts availability is confirmed, owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail in accordance with the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries Code of Practice and advised to take their vehicle to a Honda Dealer. The Dealer will replace the driver’s front SRS airbag inflator, at no cost to the customer.
